Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience in business development or related roles.

Responsibilities

  • Identify scaffold and shoring project opportunities in commercial, industrial, and construction markets.
  • Conduct client calls and targeted outreach to prospective customers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers via phone, email, and other approved channels.
  • Research upcoming construction projects and bid opportunities to develop a strong pipeline.
  • Review project plans to identify opportunities and assist with estimating and quotations.
  • Track open bids, leads, and opportunities and follow up with stakeholders.
  • Submit prequalification packages and vendor registrations accurately and on schedule.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of proposals and bid packages.
  • Maintain complete client, contact, lead, bid, and project data in CRM systems.

JOB TITLE: Business Development Assistant REPORTS TO: Business Development Leader
DEPARTMENT: Classic / Maryland Office STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Assistant supports the growth of scaffold and shoring services by identifying prospective construction projects, developing customer relationships, and assisting with estimating, bidding, and proposal activities. This role is responsible for proactive outreach, opportunity tracking, prequalification and vendor-registration submissions, and maintaining accurate customer and project records in company systems. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, comfortable making outbound calls, and able to review construction plans to identify potential project opportunities.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Two years’ experience in business development, sales support, estimating support, construction administration, or customer service preferred, including targeted outreach support / cold calls.
  • Experience or familiarity with the construction industry, specialty contracting, or related services, is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and bid documents preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make outbound prospecting calls and prepare professional correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and follow-up activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and maintain CRM and project-tracking systems.
  • Self-motivated, professional comfortable working in a fast-paced and customer-focused environment.
  • Valid state drivers’ license and ability to travel as needed for client meetings and events (if needed)

  • Identify and pursue scaffold and shoring project opportunities within the commercial, industrial, and construction markets.
  • Conduct client calls and targeted outreach to prospective customers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain consistent communication with existing and prospective customers through phone calls, email, and other approved communication channels.
  • Research upcoming construction projects, bid opportunities, and market activity to develop a strong pipeline of potential work.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and project plans to identify scaffold and shoring opportunities.
  • Assist estimating personnel by gathering project information, organizing bid documents, and supporting the preparation of project estimates and quotations.
  • Track open bids, quotations, leads, and project opportunities; follow up with customers and internal team members to determine project status and next steps.
  • Complete and submit customer prequalification packages, vendor registrations, and related compliance documentation accurately and on schedule.
  • Assist with the preparation, assembly, and submission of proposals, bid packages, presentations, and other project documentation.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client, contact, lead, bid, and project information within company databases and CRM systems.
  • Coordinate with sales, estimating, operations, and leadership teams to ensure opportunities are communicated, prioritized, and followed through effectively.
  • Provide administrative and business development support as needed to advance customer relationships and secure new work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Physical Ability: Must be able to climb stairs and work in a second‑floor office environment.
  • Primarily a stationary position for a considerable portion of the day (sitting and/or standing). The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Must be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
  • Travel to project sites, or other APi Group company locations as needed.
  • The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in plant environment (or where required).
