Sr. Data Business Analyst (W2 Only – No C2C)

Are you a seasoned Data Business Analyst with a deep understanding of financial metrics, exceptional communication skills, and hands-on experience with data tools in an Agile environment?

We are currently seeking a Senior Data Business Analyst to join a strategic team focused on enterprise-wide finance and data initiatives at a globally recognized banking institution. This is a high-impact, long-term opportunity based in New York City.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to gather, document, and communicate detailed business and data requirements
• Apply advanced analytical skills to interpret business needs and translate them into functional and technical requirements
• Support Agile/Scrum development cycles and manage related documentation in JIRA, Confluence, and related tools
• Prepare clear, concise presentations and reports for senior stakeholders, including financial performance metrics such as RoTCE
• Conduct in-depth data analysis using SQL, Python, or Big Data tools across MongoDB, Hive, or MSaaS databases
• Produce high-quality functional specifications and documentation to guide development and QA teams
• Work independently and collaboratively to solve complex problems and provide data-driven insights

Required Skills & Experience:

• 10+ years of business/data analysis experience in financial services
• 7+ years of finance domain expertise, ideally with knowledge of client financial metrics like RoTCE
• Expert in Agile/Scrum methodologies with advanced use of JIRA, Confluence, and release/project management tools
• Strong experience in querying and analyzing data via SQL, Python, or similar tools
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with experience working at the senior management level
• Proven experience with MS Office, especially Excel for advanced data analysis, and PowerPoint for executive presentations
• High attention to detail with ability to break down complex data into understandable business insights

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Big Data, MongoDB, or Hive
• Familiarity with MSaaS analytics environments
• Prior experience working on data-related finance initiatives
• MBA in Finance or Finance Certifications are a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field required
• MBA in Finance or Financial Certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is a strong plus
• Work with a globally respected financial institution on critical business initiatives
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders on high-visibility projects
• Gain exposure to cutting-edge data environments and financial metrics
