Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in commercial lending or related finance.
• 4 years of post-secondary education, business or finance preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

The Business Banker VP is responsible for soliciting, structuring, negotiating, underwriting, and coordinating the closing of complex commercial and business loans in accordance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures. This role takes ownership of a dynamic commercial loan portfolio where you’ll build strong client relationships, protect asset quality, and drive strategic growth. This role gives you the opportunity to shape the portfolio’s direction while making a meaningful impact on the businesses you support. The Business Banker VP actively develops new business opportunities and deepens existing client relationships to support the Bank’s long‑term growth and financial performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Engages in business development activities and solicitation of new business; actively involved in instilling and maintaining a positive sales environment through education of the Bank’s products and services.
• Interviews prospective applicants and requests specified information related to loan or credit application; corresponds or re-interviews applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
• Performs pre-qualification assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests within framework of Bank credit culture and current economic and industry trends.
• Oversees the full lending process — analyzing financials, meeting clients, visiting sites, negotiating terms, and presenting recommendations. Approves loans within set limits and forwards larger requests or renewals for committee review.
• Negotiates, underwrites, and processes renewals of credit facilities.
• Advanced experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis, typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas.
• Ensures that credit inquiries and UCC filings are researched to determine credit worthiness and appropriate collateral positioning are achieved.
• Approves loan payments, draws from lines of credit, and fund transfers within specified limits.
• Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; supports the Bank’s goals and values; benefits the bank through outside activities.

Required Skills

• Experience, knowledge and training in all lending activities and terminology.
• Knowledge of commercial, construction, commercial real estate loan processing.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
• Knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.
• Proven ability to develop marketing and business development skills with customers.
• Basic skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, mainframe computer system, word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Advanced math skills: calculate interest, commissions, proportions and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in commercial lending or related finance experience required.
• 4 years of post-secondary education, business or finance preferred

Pay Range

$110k-140k base + Commission.

Starting pay is determined based on several factors, which can include the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic area.
