Role
Cisco Systems is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to play a key role in the development of a robust Customer Segmentation Model. This individual will work cross-functionally with teams in data analytics, marketing, sales, and technology to document, analyze, and manage requirements that directly impact Cisco’s customer engagement strategies. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a foundation in data analytics, attention to detail, and an ability to translate analytical or data-centric business needs into clear business requirement, ensuring alignment with Cisco’s overarching business objectives.

Responsibilities
Requirement Analysis and Documentation
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including business units, marketing, sales, and technical teams, to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for the customer segmentation model.
- Develop detailed requirement artifacts, such as Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Specifications, and User Stories.
- Define clear acceptance criteria and ensure alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.
Data Analysis and Customer Insights
- Perform foundational data analytics tasks; sourcing, manipulating, and visualising data for analysis to quantify business problem statements and explore business requirements.
- Partner with data scientists and analysts to interpret existing customer data and identify patterns and trends that inform segmentation strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define the segmentation criteria (e.g., demographics, purchasing behavior, geographic regions, etc.) and ensure alignment with business outcomes.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and focus groups to elicit requirements and validate the proposed segmentation model.
- Act as a liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring seamless communication and understanding of the project’s objectives.
Model Development and Testing
- Work closely with data science and engineering teams to ensure that the segmentation model meets business requirements, is scalable, and adheres to best practices.
- Support testing phases, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), by validating outputs against the defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Recommend refinements and adjustments to the model based on stakeholder feedback and testing results.
Change Management and Documentation
- Develop and maintain documentation, including process flows, use cases, and training materials, to support the adoption of the customer segmentation model across the organization.
- Collaborate with change management teams to ensure smooth implementation and onboarding for key users.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Define KPIs and success metrics for the segmentation model in collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Monitor the model’s performance post-implementation and provide regular updates to leadership, including actionable recommendations for ongoing improvements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in data analytics, customer insights, or marketing projects.
- Proven experience in gathering, analyzing, and documenting requirements for analytics or data-driven projects.
- Prior experience working on customer segmentation, customer insights, or predictive analytics initiatives is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong foundation of data analytics, machine learning models, and statistical techniques.
- Basic proficiency in SQL or other query languages is a plus.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Proficiency in business process modelling and requirements management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio, etc.).
Soft Skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- High degree of adaptability and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
Pay Salary Range: $110400 - 139500

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long -term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.
Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows: .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota; 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%; 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
