ROLE

Cisco Systems is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to play a key role in the development of a robust Customer Segmentation Model. This individual will work cross-functionally with teams in data analytics, marketing, sales, and technology to document, analyze, and manage requirements that directly impact Cisco’s customer engagement strategies. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a foundation in data analytics, attention to detail, and an ability to translate analytical or data-centric business needs into clear business requirement, ensuring alignment with Cisco’s overarching business objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-visibility projects with the potential to transform the way Cisco understands and interacts with its customers globally to deliver growth at an efficient cost-to-serve.

Responsibilities

Requirement Analysis and Documentation

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including business units, marketing, sales, and technical teams, to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for the customer segmentation model.
  • Develop detailed requirement artifacts, such as Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Specifications, and User Stories.
  • Define clear acceptance criteria and ensure alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.

Data Analysis and Customer Insights

  • Perform foundational data analytics tasks; sourcing, manipulating, and visualising data for analysis to quantify business problem statements and explore business requirements.
  • Partner with data scientists and analysts to interpret existing customer data and identify patterns and trends that inform segmentation strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the segmentation criteria (e.g., demographics, purchasing behavior, geographic regions, etc.) and ensure alignment with business outcomes.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and focus groups to elicit requirements and validate the proposed segmentation model.
  • Act as a liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring seamless communication and understanding of the project’s objectives.

Model Development and Testing

  • Work closely with data science and engineering teams to ensure that the segmentation model meets business requirements, is scalable, and adheres to best practices.
  • Support testing phases, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), by validating outputs against the defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Recommend refinements and adjustments to the model based on stakeholder feedback and testing results.

Change Management and Documentation

  • Develop and maintain documentation, including process flows, use cases, and training materials, to support the adoption of the customer segmentation model across the organization.
  • Collaborate with change management teams to ensure smooth implementation and onboarding for key users.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Define KPIs and success metrics for the segmentation model in collaboration with business stakeholders.
  • Monitor the model’s performance post-implementation and provide regular updates to leadership, including actionable recommendations for ongoing improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in data analytics, customer insights, or marketing projects.
  • Proven experience in gathering, analyzing, and documenting requirements for analytics or data-driven projects.
  • Prior experience working on customer segmentation, customer insights, or predictive analytics initiatives is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Strong foundation of data analytics, machine learning models, and statistical techniques.
  • Basic proficiency in SQL or other query languages is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Proficiency in business process modelling and requirements management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio, etc.).

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • High degree of adaptability and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
