GEOSPATIAL PRACTICE

We are a national leader in implementing straightforward approaches to development and deployment of scalable enterprise Geospatial Information Technology (GIT) solutions. DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst/QA Lead to join the National Geospatial Practice at Michael Baker International. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and defining both business and technical requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality web, mobile and desktop applications. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and possess strong communication and coordination skills with stakeholders, including project managers, developers, and subject matter experts. Proficiency in SCRUM activities, requirements gathering, and supporting a team of developers through complex projects is essential for this position. Additionally, you will oversee QA/QC processes to ensure that all applications meet the highest standards of quality and performance. This includes developing and implementing testing strategies, conducting thorough reviews, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively with business unit SMEs, business analysts, developers, vendors, and end users in cross-functional teams.
  • Plan, Lead and Facilitate Requirements Gathering sessions with technical and non-technical user groups for various software development projects.
  • Define Requirements and Scope with budgetary understanding of the projects.
  • Influence, advice and support stakeholders by making appropriate recommendations regarding scope, user stories and product design.
  • Ensure a healthy backlog of requirements and work proactively to ensure backlog is groomed.
  • Facilitates SCRUM activities, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, demos and retrospectives.
  • Support Project Managers, Solution Architects and Developers in all aspects of the SDLC
  • Produce and Own documentation artifacts - TRDs, User Stories, Process workflows, Technical Documentation, Training Manual etc.
  • Design clear Testing Plan and produce testing artifacts - Test scenarios, user cases, test plan documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support Project Managers, Solution Architects and Developers in defining QA process based on the project needs.
  • Diagnoses, isolates, and de-bugs software problems and performs problem resolution.
  • Adheres to standards for development, including source control, coding standards, test plans, and documentation.
  • Work Efficiently in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritizing and balancing competing priorities and project deliverables.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related fields and at least 5 years of demonstrated experience in Business Analyst / QA roles.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in SCRUM methodologies and activities; Certified Scrum Master preferred.
  • Experience in requirements gathering and task management.
  • 5+ years of experience writing technical documentation, including TRDs, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, Test Cases and Training Documentation.
  • 5+ years of experience testing software-specific projects and documenting testing results
  • Experience with Atlassian Products (Jira and Confluence). ALM products is a plus.
  • Experience with automation testing frameworks like Jest, Selenium etc.
  • Proficient in testing desktop and web applications, APIs, Rest services and database systems.
  • Experienced with testing Full stack cloud native applications.
  • Understanding of CI/CD methodologies and experience with GitHub.
  • Demonstrated communication skills in customer facing roles.
  • Demonstrated experience working in fast paced and dynamic teams.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding client expectations, personal performance goals, and achieving project objectives
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to be accountable and reliable in a remote office setting
  • Prefer West Coast/Pacific time zone candidates (for time zone alignment with current clients)
  • May be remote, hybrid, or in the office, depending on location
  • Must have high speed internet and suitable workspace to work remotely

Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with the ESRI technology stack and understanding of ESRI ecosystem of products
  • Experience or familiarity with ArcGIS API for JavaScript a plus.
  • Experience or familiarity with ArcGIS software development kits (SDKs) a plus
  • Experience with Lucidcharts and Figma.
  • Experienced with Postman

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position $ 85,619 - $134,849 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
