Job summary

Paoli Group is seeking a Business Analyst to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements for software and digital transformation initiatives.

You will work with clients, product owners, project managers, designers, engineers, and QA to lead discovery, analyze processes, define functional requirements, and create stakeholder-ready documentation guiding design, development, testing, and implementation.

Qualifications

• Experience eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and validating requirements.
• Proven ability to create user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, business rules, process flows, requirements documents, and stakeholder presentations.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and agile delivery practices.
• Experience working directly with clients, subject-matter experts, product owners, developers, QA professionals, and technical teams.
• Knowledge of APIs, system integrations, data flows, user roles, permissions, and software functionality.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and requirements-gathering activities.
• Analyze business needs, operational processes, policies, regulations, and supporting documentation.
• Document current-state and future-state processes, identifying gaps, risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
• Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements.
• Create and maintain business requirements documents, product requirements documents, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, process flows, business rules, and related artifacts.
• Organize and maintain requirements in a structured backlog, ensuring clarity, completeness, prioritization, and traceability.
• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to define scope, priorities, expected outcomes, and success criteria.
• Work with designers, engineers, architects, and QA professionals to clarify requirements and support solution design.
• Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring a shared understanding of the problem, requirements, and proposed solution.
• Evaluate proposed solutions to confirm alignment with business needs, operational realities, and project objectives.
• Support QA by reviewing test plans, validating acceptance-criteria coverage, and clarifying expected system behavior.
• Coordinate and support user acceptance testing, including scenario preparation, stakeholder participation, issue tracking, and results documentation.
• Identify and document scope changes, assumptions, decisions, dependencies, risks, and unresolved questions.
• Produce stakeholder-ready materials, including requirements packages, process documentation, executive summaries, presentations, meeting notes, decision logs, and status updates.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Support release readiness, implementation planning, training, and operational transition activities.
• Identify opportunities to use AI technologies and tools to improve discovery, analysis, documentation, requirements quality, and workflow efficiency.
• Establish and promote business analysis standards, templates, naming conventions, and repeatable working practices.
• Share knowledge and best practices with other analysts and project team members.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, product analysis, or a related role supporting software or digital transformation projects.
• Proven experience eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and validating business and system requirements.
• Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, business rules, process flows, requirements documents, and stakeholder presentations.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle, agile delivery practices, and requirements management.
• Ability to analyze complex processes, identify gaps, and translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
• Experience working directly with clients, subject‑matter experts, product owners, developers, QA professionals, and technical teams.
• Working knowledge of APIs, system integrations, data flows, user roles, permissions, and software functionality.
• Experience supporting backlog refinement, user acceptance testing, and release‑readiness activities.
• Experience using collaboration and project-management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, ASANA, Monday.com, or similar platforms.
• Experience using process‑mapping and diagramming tools such as Lucidchart, Visio, Miro, or similar.
• Strong analytical, organizational, facilitation, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation in a fast‑moving environment.
• Strong professional writing and presentation skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on government, regulated, compliance‑driven, or audit‑heavy projects.
• Experience supporting large‑scale digital transformation or enterprise software initiatives.
• Familiarity with public‑sector operations, policies, regulations, procurement processes, or interagency initiatives.
• Experience performing product owner responsibilities, including backlog management, prioritization, and stakeholder alignment.
• Understanding of business process modeling techniques such as BPMN or UML.
• Experience with data analysis, SQL, API testing tools, reporting platforms, or business intelligence concepts.
• Experience leveraging AI technologies to improve requirements analysis, documentation, process discovery, or stakeholder communication.
• Experience with accessibility, privacy, security, records management, or data‑governance requirements.
• Professional certification in business analysis, product ownership, project management, or agile practices.
• Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
