Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for payments and FX processing lifecycle.
• Write user stories with acceptance criteria; maintain backlog in Jira and refine requirements with Developers and QA.
• Model current- and future-state processes using Visio and UML to support migration of legacy BPM workflows.
• Identify manual steps, recommend automation opportunities, and develop business cases.
• Perform gap analysis for vendor platform upgrades; document interfaces and data mappings; support vendor evaluations and deployments.
• Collaborate with UX, stakeholders, Developers, and QA to ensure requirements are understood and delivered.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by defining test scenarios and sign-off.
• Create and maintain user manuals and knowledge bases for payment solutions.
• Ensure requirements reflect control environment and comply with change control, audit, and information security.

Job description

We are seeking a Business Analyst — Payments Engineering to support the modernization of our client payment systems, with a primary focus on domestic and international bank transfer platforms.

This role will serve as a bridge between the Payments/Transfers team, Technology, and third-party vendors, gathering requirements, modeling current and future-state processes, and translating operational needs into clear specifications that Engineering can build and QA can test.

The position will also support vendor platform upgrades, workflow automation, and orchestration within a highly regulated financial services environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for the initiation, validation, review, approval, and settlement of payments and foreign exchange transactions.
• Write user stories with clear acceptance criteria; maintain and prioritize the backlog in Jira and refine requirements with Developers and QA.
• Model current- and future-state processes using Visio and UML, including activity, sequence, and use-case diagrams, to support the migration of legacy BPM workflows to Netflix Conductor.
• Identify manual steps throughout the payment lifecycle, recommend automation opportunities, and develop supporting business cases.
• Perform gap analysis for vendor platform upgrades; document interface requirements, data mapping, and migration needs; support vendor evaluations and production deployment planning.
• Collaborate with UX, business stakeholders, Developers, and QA to ensure requirements are clearly understood, feasible, and delivered as specified.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by defining test scenarios, preparing business testers, tracking defects, and obtaining formal sign-off.
• Create and maintain user manuals, process guides, and a knowledge base for the Bank’s payment solutions.
• Ensure requirements reflect the Bank’s control environment, including segregation of duties, four-eyes approval, transaction limits, cut-off times, and sanctions screening, and comply with change control, audit, and information security requirements.

Required Skills:

• Requirements gathering and documentation, including BRDs/FRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Process modeling using Visio and UML or BPMN.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence or equivalent tools.
• SQL for data analysis and requirements validation.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of banking payments and foreign exchange.
• Familiarity with Fedwire, SWIFT MT/MX, ISO 20022, and ACH/Nacha.
• Understanding of workflow orchestration concepts, including Netflix Conductor or comparable BPM platforms.
• Experience with Salesforce.
• Experience supporting vendor upgrade programs or core system migrations.
• Experience collaborating with UX teams on wireframes and user experience requirements.
