Job summary

IKO Industries Ltd. in the United States seeks a Bushing Technician for full-time roles at IKO Glass Fiber Inc., Chester, SC. This position focuses on safe, reliable operation of a bushing and forming process with adherence to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include identifying poor performing bushings, controlling melt rates, maintaining temperature profiles, and supporting fiber formers to optimize production. Competitive salary and benefits accompany this role.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide simple and accurate instructions.
  • Three or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to work at times in a high temperature environment.
  • Frequent lifting or moving materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Must work a 12 hour rotating shift (days/nights) and rotate frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach and grasp.
  • Climb stairs and ladders; work from heights.
  • Reach overhead for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Exceptional attendance including working every day, on time, as scheduled.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify poor performing bushings and positions; troubleshoot and implement corrective action.
  • Control bushing melt rates using statistical process control techniques; maintain temperature profiles.
  • Start-up bushings as required.
  • Monitor, adjust, and repair bushing, forming process and chopper operations.
  • Ensure efficient forming performance and chopper operation; perform routine changes and maintenance.
  • Monitor and control product cut quality; take corrective action as needed.
  • Assist fiber formers to ensure optimum bushing and process performance.
  • Maintain forming process alignment to specifications.
  • Complete all required logs and audit sheets.
  • All duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Exceptional attendance including working every day, on time, as scheduled.
  • Strong desire to work safely and help others also work safely. Take primary responsibility for own safety. Follow all policies and procedures. Understand that safety is a condition of employment.
  • Identify poor performing bushings and positions. Troubleshoot and implement corrective action.
  • Control bushing melt rates using statistical process control techniques. Ensure bushing temperature profiles are maintained for optimal efficiency. Start‑up bushings as required.
  • Monitor, adjust, and repair bushing, forming process, and chopper operations including cooling air, cooling fins, leads, flex connections, prepad sprays, applicator speeds, chopper variables, etc.
  • Ensure efficient forming performance and chopper operation. Troubleshoot and implement corrective actions. Perform routine chopper cutterhead and cot changes as well as other chopper adjustments and maintenance.
  • Monitor and control product cut quality. Take appropriate corrective action when needed.
  • Assist fiber formers to ensure optimum bushing and process performance. Respond to and service fiber formers’ requests.
  • Maintain forming process alignment to written specifications.
  • Complete all required logs and audit sheets.
  • All duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Prior glass operations experience beneficial but not required.
  • Three or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide simple and accurate instructions.
  • Ability to work at times in a high temperature environment.
  • Frequent lifting or moving materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Required to work 12 hour rotating shift schedule including working days and nights and rotating frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular requirements to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and grasp.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights.
  • Ability to perform work by reaching overhead for long periods of time.
