WMATA’s Office of Bus Transportation Training is seeking a Training and Safety Instructor to deliver high‑quality instruction and evaluate operator performance. You will reinforce safety standards and support learner growth through hands‑on training and modern tools.

The role emphasizes learning leadership, coaching, and the ability to apply new information in a collaborative team setting within Metrobus operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible bus operations experience with a safe driving record.
• Experience developing and presenting bus operator training or as an instructor in a related field preferred.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with passenger endorsements; clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and evaluates the performance of Bus employees and students in classroom and on‑street environments.
• Delivers mandatory and compliance training for various partners.
• Develops training courses, lesson plans, and conducts both classroom and in‑vehicle instruction.
• Coordinates CDL training and testing; requalifies operators as needed.
• Maintains records of trainee progress and prepares weekly performance reports.
