Job summary

WMATA is seeking experienced Training and Safety Instructors to deliver high-quality instruction and reinforce safety standards for Metrobus Operators. You will lead classroom and on-street training, focusing on developing learners’ confidence and professional growth.

The role emphasizes effective communication, collaboration with a professional team, and use of modern training tools to prepare operators for safe, reliable service across the WMATA network.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible bus operations experience with safe operating record.
• Previous experience in developing and presenting bus operator training or related instruction.

Responsibilities

• Assesses training needs through surveys and consultations with supervisors.
• Conducts needs assessment and informs training status to management.
• Schedules training sessions based on classroom and instructor availability.
• Develops and prepares training courses and lesson plans; conducts classroom and on-bus instruction.
• Coordinates CDL training and testing; requalifies operators in refresher training.
