Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking a dedicated Training and Safety Instructor to deliver high‑quality bus operation training and safety instruction. The role focuses on classroom and on‑street evaluation, using modern training tools to prepare operators for safe, reliable service.

The ideal candidate has a passion for developing others, strong communication and leadership skills, and experience in curriculum design and assessment.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible bus operations experience with safe driving record.
• Previous experience developing and presenting bus operator training or teaching.
• Valid driver’s license and CDL with passenger endorsements.
• Ability to design and deliver classroom and on‑vehicle training.

Responsibilities

• Develops and prepares training courses and lesson plans for classroom and in‑vehicle instruction.
• Schedules trainings and coordinates with instructors and facilities.
• Conducts mandatory and compliance training for drivers and staff.
• Evaluates trainee progress and administers grades in training programs.
• Mentors employees post‑training and earns feedback for improvement.
