Job Description

Assist and support students during transportation, ensuring safety, compliance, and a calm environment. Work under the direct supervision of the bus driver and perform duties as directed by the Transportation Director.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all students are seated and secured with seat belts at all times.
• Review and check bus for students at the end of the route.
• Assist the driver in loading and unloading wheelchair students onto or off the van.
• Assist the driver by maintaining order and quiet among children.
• Escort students to and from their classroom upon arrival and dismissal.
• Perform other assignments as deemed necessary by the driver.
• Perform duties assigned by the Transportation Director.

Qualifications

• Eighth grade or higher education and minimum age 18.
• Knowledge of child development, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Pre‑screening by an approved medical vendor may be required.

Working Conditions

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; manage groups of students.

Physical Demands: Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl (0‑30% of workday); talk or hear (34‑66%); use hands to manipulate objects (67‑99%); lift and carry 10‑15 lbs (0‑33%); work in wet, humid conditions; handle mechanical parts; loud noise environment.
