Job summary

Young World Physical Education is looking for a part-time Bus Driver to ensure safe transportation of students in Luling, Texas. Ideal candidates will possess a valid Texas commercial driver’s license and have the ability to operate the bus safely.

Job Description

Primary Purpose: Ensure safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned route. Operate school bus that transports students and other personnel to and from schools or other designated locations.

Qualifications
  • Valid Texas commercial drivers license (Class B with S Endorsement), or willingness to complete training successfully
  • Must pass annual DOT required physical exam.
  • Must pass all drug and alcohol testing in accordance with DOT standards
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Ability to operate bus safely for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and verbal instructions in English
  • Acceptable driving record according to Department of Public Safety standards
Experience
  • Experience with children preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
  • Maintain safety precautions when students are boarding and departing bus.
  • Maintain appropriate student management and report student incidents to appropriate administrators.
  • Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
  • Complete pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections before and after each operation and submit work orders for needed repairs.
  • Communicate with school personnel and parents about student behavior while on the bus.
  • Keep assigned bus clean and fueled.
  • Properly operate communication equipment.
  • Report all accidents, vehicle damage, and student injuries, and complete required reports.
  • Drive bus on extra‑curricular activities as needed.
  • Operate standard and automatic transmission motor vehicle (required).
  • Must attend district and departmental training as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Physical Demands and Environmental Factors
  • Lifts 10–50 pounds frequently, 50–100 pounds occasionally, more than 100 pounds infrequently with assistance.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Occasional walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying.
  • Work outside and inside.
  • Work around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.
  • Moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
  • May be exposed to body fluids and other contagions.

Salary Scale: $19.25–$26.00/hour depending on experience. Health coverage and benefits available.
