Job summary

Santa Ynez Valley Transit, operated by RATP Dev USA, is hiring bus drivers to provide safe, courteous service along city, rural, and highway routes.

You will perform pre‑trip inspections, operate fareboxes and lifts, and assist riders, including those with disabilities, while adhering to all safety regulations.

Paid training and a competitive benefits package are offered; the role requires 21+ years old, a high school diploma or GED, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass a DOT physical exam.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Commitment to safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service as the front‑line representative of the transit system.
• Safely operate transit buses through city, rural, and highway environments.
• Transport passengers courteously along assigned routes and schedules.
• Assist passengers, including individuals with disabilities and mobility devices.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local traffic and safety regulations.
• Operate fareboxes, wheelchair lifts, communication radios, and emergency equipment.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and complete DVIRs.
• Communicate detours, delays, and incidents to dispatch.
• Collect fares, count passengers, and complete required documentation.
• Report accidents, incidents, or unusual events promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
