Job summary

Avis Budget Group is hiring a diesel bus mechanic in Romulus, MI. You will perform standard and complex repairs on our diesel bus fleet, including preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and mechanical and electrical diagnostics.

You’ll ensure belts, hoses, lighting, and other critical systems meet safety and performance standards. You will work on a fleet of newer buses, applying diesel expertise to keep vehicles reliable, minimize downtime, and support a positive customer experience.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Minimum of 2 years of diesel repair experience.
• Comfortable in a mechanical shop with moderate to loud noise.
• Must possess a complete set of hand tools for diesel repair and maintenance.
• ASE certifications T1–T8 preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard and complex repairs on our diesel bus fleet, including preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Conduct mechanical and electrical diagnostics and service on belts, hoses, lighting, and critical components.
• Maintain newer bus fleet to minimize downtime and support on-time transportation.
