BERKELEY TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Bus Mechanic to assist in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of school buses and district vehicles. Under the Head Mechanic, you ensure safety and compliance with NJDOT regulations.

The role requires basic understanding of diesel engines and automotive systems, plus strong recordkeeping and communication skills. A valid NJ driver’s license is required; CDL with endorsements or ability to obtain within a set timeframe is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of school bus engines, brakes, and related systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections per NJDOT and district schedules.
• Assist with disassembly/reassembly of engines and major components.
• Inspect, service, and repair tires including mounting and balancing.
• Perform routine servicing such as oil changes and fluid checks.
• Maintain accurate service records and work orders.
• Assist with fueling and shop equipment maintenance.
• Support troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Head Mechanic.
