Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is seeking a Repair Foreperson for Bus Maintenance to supervise and coordinate maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of transit vehicles and systems. You will assign and direct daily work crews, ensure safety and efficiency, and maintain required records.

The role requires experience in rail or bus maintenance, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to train and mentor staff.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of rail and/or bus maintenance experience.
• Strong organizational, analytical and communication abilities.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and/or databases.
• Provide courteous, professional service to customers.
• Ability to supervise diverse teams and workforces.
• Valid driver's license per MBTA policy.
• Pass Vehicle Repairer exam or equivalent.
• CDL Class B with required endorsements within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate maintenance, inspection and troubleshooting.
• Oversee daily activities of work crews.
• Ensure safety, efficiency and alignment with standards.
• Maintain records using manual and computerized systems.
• Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance.
• Drive to visit sites or transport crews/materials as needed.
• Respond to inquiries from customers, vendors, and staff.
• Work across shifts and locations as assigned; handle emergencies 24/7.
