Job summary

Bi-State Development is seeking a Superintendent of Bus Maintenance to lead a team responsible for safe, reliable, and cost-efficient transit bus maintenance. The role aligns fleet programs with compliance requirements and ensures excellent customer experience through effective leadership.

The position requires a decade of related experience, including leadership, and a Bachelor's degree in transportation or management, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of related professional experience; minimum 5 years in a leadership role.
• Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred in transportation, management, or related field.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate a department of supervisors, staff, and contractors to maintain an efficient lifecycle asset management of the bus fleet.
• Develop and implement vehicle maintenance policies and programs including FTA-related activities and safety plans.
• Oversee and manage cleaning contracts for compliance and performance.
• Provide leadership to ensure safe, professional, and collaborative work environment; mentor staff.
• Make recommendations to senior management with detailed analyses to support decision making.
• Contribute to Reliability-Centered Maintenance strategy for fleet maintenance.
• Address internal/external customer complaints and take corrective actions.
• Plan and organize work programs, monitor controls, and adjust programs to meet requirements.
• Collaborate with management to expedite bus repair and servicing; plan for emergencies and changes in environment.
• Manage budgets, expenditures, and procurement of materials to support maintenance operations.
• Ensure compliance with policies, laws, and regulatory developments affecting responsibilities.
