Definition

A bus driver operates a van or bus over designated routes, transporting school pupils or clients to and from school or designated locations. Bus drivers may also transport clients on private charter trips and work with loud, disruptive passengers or severely handicapped individuals.

Job Duties

1. Drive a bus daily over designated routes according to schedules, loading and unloading students or clients at specified locations.
2. Perform a child check immediately after each run.
3. Transport students and teachers on school activity trips.
4. Conduct daily inspections of buses and equipment prior to passenger transportation.
5. Maintain good order and discipline among passengers.
6. Follow policies regarding passenger management and interactions with parents, school staff, and the public.
7. Keep records and submit reports as required.
8. Wash, clean, refuel buses as needed.
9. Report mechanical issues promptly.
10. Conduct safe riding instructions and bus evacuation drills as directed.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. Pass a physical, pre-employment drug test, and criminal background check.
2. Have at least 3 years of verifiable safe driving experience with a valid personal driver's license.
