Job summary

The Children's Home in New York seeks a part-time Bus Driver for the School Age Child Care program to safely transport youth. You will operate a school bus and ensure on-time pickups and drop-offs while maintaining safety standards.

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED, a CDL and DOT physical, and at least two years of school bus or commercial vehicle driving experience. Excellent interaction with youth and families is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of experience driving a school bus or commercial vehicle.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and DOT physical required.
• Ability to relate and interact with youth and families in a positive manner.

• Obey traffic laws to ensure students arrive at their destination safely.
• Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus.
• Attend to traffic and weather conditions ensuring passenger safety.
• Follow the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops.
• Regularly check vehicle safety such as tires, brakes, turn signals and equipment.
• Follow OCFS Transportation Policy for School Age Child Care.

Position Summary:

The Bus Driver for the School Age Child Care program at the Southern Tier Community Center, will safely transport youth.

Responsibilities

• Obey all traffic laws to ensure students arrive at their destination safely
• Always maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus
• Being attentive to traffic and weather conditions and ensuring passenger safety
• Following the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops
• Regularly checking vehicle safety such as tires, brakes, turn signals and mechanical equipment
• Follow the Office of Children and Families (OCFS) Transportation Policy of Children for School Aged Child Care

Requirements

Education:

• High School Diploma / GED required

Experience

• 2 years of experience driving a school bus or commercial vehicle required
• Ability to relate and interact with youth and families in a positive manner required
• Commercial Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required
• Pass DOT Physical required
