Job summary

Washington Community High School District in Washington, Illinois seeks a Bus Driver for the 2026-27 school year, with a minimum 4 hours per shift. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Shall obey all traffic laws and safely transport students.
• Shall maintain order and discipline when students are on the bus.
• Shall make recommendations to improve the operation and maintenance of the transportation system.
• Shall pick up and discharge authorized students at authorized stops according to assigned routes and schedules.
• Shall obey all traffic laws, school rules, and safety regulations.
• Shall punctually report to work properly dressed for weather conditions.
• Shall work cooperatively with all drivers, teachers, and administrators.
• Shall check bus before operation making sure that everything is in working order and that all mirrors are clean and adjusted, completing a walkabout form for each bus used.
• Shall keep assigned bus interior clean on a daily basis and clean up any spills or accidents as soon as possible.
• Shall fill out all appropriate forms including accident forms, bus maintenance forms, and all required State and Federal forms.
• Shall report fuel level below 3/8 of a tank and check all fluid levels.

Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois School Bus Driver License.
• Meet all requirements established by the State of Illinois.
• Experience and training commensurate with the position requirements.
• Such qualifications in addition to State mandates as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To: Director of Transportation
