Job summary

Kids ‘R’ Kids is seeking a Bus Driver in Waco, TX to provide safe, reliable transportation for students for daily routes and field trips.

The driver will follow schedules, conduct safety inspections, log trips, and ensure supervision and safety at all times in accordance with state licensing requirements and school policies.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
• CPR and First Aid certification must be maintained as required.
• Must be dependable, punctual, responsible, and safety-focused.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with children and staff.
• Must safely assist children entering and exiting the vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport children to and from local schools, field trips, and approved activities.
• Follow assigned transportation routes and schedules and communicate delays or changes to management.
• Conduct required vehicle safety inspections before and after each route.
• Complete accurate attendance and transportation logs for every trip.
• Verify each child when entering and exiting the vehicle and follow all name-to-face/counting procedures.
• Maintain professional and respectful communication with children, families, school personnel, and Kids ‘R’ Kids staff.

Position Summary

The Kids ‘R’ Kids Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation for children to and from school, field trips, and other approved activities. The Bus Driver is expected to maintain a safe and positive environment while transporting children and follow all Kids ‘R’ Kids policies, Texas childcare licensing requirements, and transportation procedures.

• Safely transport children to and from local schools, field trips, and approved activities.
• Follow assigned transportation routes and schedules and communicate delays or changes to management.
• Conduct required vehicle safety inspections before and after each route.
• Complete accurate attendance and transportation logs for every trip.
• Verify each child when entering and exiting the vehicle and follow all required name-to-face/counting procedures.
• Perform a complete physical walkthrough of the vehicle after every route to ensure no child is left on the bus.
• Properly use and check seat belts, car seats, booster seats, and other required safety restraints.
• Maintain appropriate supervision and behavior expectations while children are being transported.
• Follow all traffic laws, childcare licensing regulations, and Kids ‘R’ Kids transportation policies.
• Keep the vehicle clean, organized, and ready for daily transportation.
• Immediately report accidents, vehicle concerns, safety issues, injuries, or unusual incidents to management.
• Ensure required emergency information and transportation supplies are present on the vehicle.
• Never use a cell phone or engage in other distractions while operating the vehicle.
• Maintain professional and respectful communication with children, families, school personnel, and Kids ‘R’ Kids staff.
• Assist with additional school duties when not actively driving, as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must meet all Kids ‘R’ Kids and Texas childcare licensing requirements for transporting children.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
• Must meet any applicable age, insurance, background check, and vehicle-operation requirements.
• Must successfully complete required childcare and transportation safety training.
• CPR and First Aid certification must be maintained as required.
• Must be dependable, punctual, responsible, and safety-focused.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with children and staff.
• Must be able to safely assist children entering and exiting the vehicle when necessary.

Safety Expectations

Safety is the highest priority of the Bus Driver position. Drivers are expected to maintain active awareness at all times, accurately account for every child, follow transportation procedures without exception, and immediately communicate any safety concern to management.

Failure to follow transportation safety procedures, including proper child counts, vehicle walkthroughs, restraint requirements, or safe-driving practices, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
