Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. seeks a bus aide/driver to transport children to Head Start centers, ensuring safety and proper seating. You will verify sign-on/off sheets, coordinate with families and site staff, and safeguard each child until handed to a responsible adult.

Role requires basic math, good communication skills, and the ability to maintain schedules while meeting individual needs of children and families. High school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Visually observe the health of each child on the bus and report concerns.
• Maintain clear written records and follow reporting procedures.
• Understand safety practices for preschool children and apply them on transit.
• Document and communicate with center staff and families as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transport children to and from Head Start centers safely.
• Ensure all passengers wear seat belts and are seated properly.
• Sign on and sign off sheets, accounting by name all children boarding and alighting.
• Deliver each child to a responsible adult on the authorized list.
• Never leave a child unattended while on the bus.
• Coordinate paperwork flow between homes and Head Start sites.
• Collaborate with site staff, families and transportation manager to design efficient bus routes.

Job description

Transport children to and from Head Start centers efficiently and safely.Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate (age or weight) seats and belted in.Ensure that any behavioral issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus.Perform daily sign on & sign off sheets, accounting by name all children getting on and off the bus.Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult upon leaving bus (on the authorized list).Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind.Visually observe the health of each child on the bus, report any concerns to Center Administrator or designee.Coordinate the paperwork flow between homes and Head Start sites.Continuous collaboration with site staff, families and transportation manager to design efficient bus routes, and mail/message deliveries.High school diploma or GED.Working knowledge of the behaviors and developmental stages of pre-school children, typically gained by working one year or more in a school or preschool setting.Knowledge of safety practices as they relate to pre-school children.Good written and oral communications skills and basic math skills.Ability to maintain schedules while meeting individual needs of children and families.
