Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. in Mississippi seeks a school bus aide to assist the driver with safety procedures, sign-on/off processes, and monitoring preschool children.

You will ensure proper restraints, communicate with children ages 3–5, and aid in delivering them to authorized caregivers, while maintaining a safe, structured bus environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience (typically one year) working with ages 3-5.
• Knowledge of safety practices related to preschool children.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver with daily sign on/off sheets and account for each child by name.
• Ensure all children are secured with age-appropriate seatbelts or restraints.
• Monitor health of children and report concerns to the Center Administrator.
• Collaborate with the driver to hand children to authorized adults upon leaving the bus.
• Ensure authorized adults sign for children upon departure.
• Complete accident/incident reports as appropriate.

Assist children in boarding and exiting the bus.Assist driver in completion of daily sign on & off sheets, accounting by name all children getting on and off the bus.Ensure that all children are secured in weight/height appropriate seatbelts or restraints and that while seated all adults use available seatbelts.Visually observe the health of each child on the bus, notify Center Administrator of concerns.Ensure that any behavioral issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus or the ability of the bus driver to safely operate the vehicle.Use age-appropriate communication skills with children on bus.Collaborate with the bus driver to ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult (authorized list) upon leaving bus.Ensure that the responsible adult (authorized list) signs for the child upon leaving the bus.Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind.Assist the bus driver with any emergency situations following all rules and regulations as they pertain to school bus safety and child health.Fill out accident/incident reports as appropriate.Perform a complete walk-thru of bus after each route.High School Diploma or GED.Experience (typically one year) working with ages 3-5.Knowledge of age appropriate behaviors and safety practices a plus.Knowledge of safety practices as they relate to pre-school children.Good oral and written communication skills.Ability to travel; some overnight and with short noticeEmployment contingent upon the results of the following
