Job summary

RATP Dev USA – Go-Durham is seeking a Bus Operator to transport passengers safely and courteously on Durham routes. You will operate buses, conduct pre-trip checks, and follow dispatch instructions to maintain reliable service.

We offer paid CDL training, both full-time and part-time shifts, and a pension plan. Candidates must hold a NC CDL Permit or CDL A/B with passenger and air brake endorsements and meet DOT requirements. We foster safety, diversity, and community mobility.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Pass a DOT Physical examination.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid North Carolina CDL Permit with passenger and air brake endorsements or a full CDL A/B with endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Transports passengers safely and courteously on assigned routes.
• Complies with federal, state, and local laws governing bus operation.
• Delivers high-quality service and assists customers, including those with disabilities.
• Performs pre-trip inspections and ensures vehicle is safe and properly maintained.
• Coordinates detours and communicates with dispatch for smooth operations.

Responsibilities Include

• Transports Passengers safely and courteously according to specified routes. To ensure optimization of all routes, the Bus Operator may make only designated stops in the order prescribed, unless otherwise communicated by the Dispatch Office.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws about the operation of buses, traffic, and safety.
• Ensures the highest quality of service is delivered to our customers.
• Assists customers in a safe, friendly, courteous, and helpful manner. This includes helping customers with disabilities, on and off the wheelchair lift. As requested by the customer, the Bus Operator will assist with safety restraints.
• Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Comply with all company safety rules and operates assigned vehicles to meet customer standards.
• Must be able to operate all equipment safely, efficiently, and adequately, including lift, radio, emergency equipment, hatches, and rear engine compartment door.
• Performs pre-trip inspection and completes bus and equipment are in safe, proper working condition.
• Coordinates detour, accident, and incident information to radio dispatch, and responds to given.
• Makes effective independent decisions and manages conflicts based on safety, experience, training, and policies.
• Reports and properly follows up on all accidents or unusual incidents in, on, or near RATP Dev/GoDurham vehicles

Requirements Of The Bus Operator

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Requires the candidate to pass a DOT Physical exam

Shift Availability

• Full-time
• Part-time (minimum 32 hours per week)
