Job summary

Westchester Public Schools, District 92½ is seeking a Bus Supervisor to ensure the safety and well-being of students during transit. Key responsibilities include monitoring passengers, assisting with loading and unloading, and maintaining order on the school bus.

The ideal candidate will effectively communicate with students, parents, and school personnel, enforce safety procedures, and participate in training as required. This is a part-time position with variable hours based on district needs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the welfare of passengers during the bus route.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of students.
• Coordinate with school personnel, students, and parents.
• Ensure all students are accounted for and maintain order.
• Seat students promptly and ensure safety during transit.
• Assist disabled students with boarding and safety devices.
• Guide students across the street safely.
• Participate in CPR training when offered.

Job description

Responsibilities of Bus Supervisor (Bus Aides)

1. Understand the route and remain alert to monitor the welfare of passengers.
2. Assist in the loading and unloading procedures.
3. Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, students and parents.
4. Check and account for all student passengers and maintain order on the school bus.
5. Make certain students are seated promptly after boarding the bus and remain seated until the bus reaches its destination.
6. Assist students in wheelchairs and apply safety and restraining devices as needed.
7. Assist students on and off the bus to prevent accident or injury and guide them to cross the street safely.
8. Enroll in CPR training class when offered by District.
