Colonial School District is seeking a Part Time Bus Aide responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and related functions. The ideal candidate will assist the bus driver and ensure a safe, orderly environment for students.

Compensation is set at USD $16.42 per hour for a work year of 10 months. Applicants must meet stringent background check requirements and demonstrate a commitment to student safety and discipline.

Qualifications

  • No felony convictions in the last five years.
  • No convictions for crimes involving children.
  • No drug-related convictions.
  • Successful background check including child protection registry.
  • Successful pre-employment drug screening.
  • TB testing and Bus Attendant/Aide Health Certification.
  • Successfully completed Bus Driver/Attendant State School.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct.
  • Inspect transportation passes to prevent unauthorized travel.
  • Assist disabled students in getting on and off the bus.
  • Ensure orderly boarding and disembarkation.
  • Accurately complete and submit required paperwork.
  • Demonstrate courtesy and respect for all students and personnel.
  • Complete safety and operational checks of the school bus.
  • Follow all state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Report to work as scheduled or earlier to start the route.

Minimum Requirements
  • No felony convictions in the last five years.

  • Successful pre‑employment drug screening.
  • TB testing and Bus Attendant/Aide Health Certification.
  • Successfully completed Bus Driver/Attendant State School.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct.
  • Inspect transportation passes to prevent unauthorized travel.
  • Assist disabled students in getting on and off the bus.
  • Ensure orderly boarding and disembarkation.
  • Accurately complete and submit required paperwork, including repair tickets, emergency evacuation forms, accident reports, incident reports, student counts, bus conduct reports, employee time sheets, and benefits information.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, pleasant demeanor, and respect for all students, school personnel, parents, and the general motoring public.
  • Complete safety and operational checks of the school bus and any special equipment before all trips with the bus driver.
  • Follow all state and federal rules and regulations, and adhere to the procedures, policies, and practices presented in the 'Bus Driver and Bus Attendants Handbook'.
  • Report to work as scheduled or earlier to prepare the bus and start the route on time regardless of weather conditions.
