Job summary

A local education institution is seeking a Bus Aide to provide essential support in transporting students, particularly those with special needs. Salary: $14.05 - $15.61

Route Times: 6:30 AM - 9:15 AM, 2:15 PM - 3:30 PM (Times may be subject to change)

Priority will be given to candidates who have previous experience working with special needs students.

Must have the physical ability to lift, carry / move equipment or supplies weighing up to fifty pounds and transport students using a wheelchair or oth er mobility device.

Must attend all mandatory meetings and training programs when requested.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling students' behavior.
  • Report discipline problems to the appropriate authorigy.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of students.
  • Operate the wheelchair lift, when applicable. Ensure wheelchairs are properly positioned, locked and secured.
  • Perform daily inspection of safey harnesses, restraints, and other special equipment used in the transportation of students with disabilities.
  • Follow approved procedures when assisting with housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean bus, and attending to the needs of students who become ill.
  • Serve as a role model for students. Demonstrate responsibility, citizenship, respect and courtesy.
