Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Bus Aide to support safe transportation for students, including those with special needs. You will work closely with the bus driver to assist with wheelchair lifts and secure equipment while ensuring student conduct remains orderly and safe en route to designated locations.

The ideal candidate will communicate effectively with students, parents and school staff, and stay vigilant for any loading or unloading hazards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to assist driver and students including those with special needs.
• Strong communication with students, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist driver and students with lifts for wheelchairs and safe loading/unloading.
• Maintain good student conduct on the bus.
• Secure any equipment that accompanies the student.
• Stay alert to hazards during loading/unloading areas.
• Communicate appropriately with students, parents and employees.

Position Title: Bus Aide

Reports To: Supervisor of Transportation

Position Goal: To assist in providing safe transportation of students, including those with special needs, to and from designated locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties may be assigned. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties: Assists driver and students in operation of lifts for wheelchairs and assisting disabled students. Maintains good student conduct on the bus. Secures special equipment that may accompany the student. Remains alert to any conditions in the loading and unloading area which present a danger to students. Communicates in an appropriate fashion with students, parents and employees. Performs other non-certificated job related duties as required or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students while transporting them.
