Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is hiring a full-time paraprofessional to support students during transportation and in transit safety. The role focuses on assisting with boarding, seating, and mobility needs while ensuring a secure, caring environment for children.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and staff.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
• Patience and willingness to problem solve in dynamic classroom transport settings.
• Ability to connect with children and their parents to support safe transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities in boarding and exiting the bus safely.
• Ensure all students are seated and secured properly during transit.
• Provide support to students with mobility challenges, including assisting with wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
• Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus.
• Communicate effectively with the bus driver and school staff regarding any issues or concerns during transportation.
• Attend to the needs of individual students, including assisting with personal care tasks if necessary.
• Follow established safety protocols and emergency procedures in the event of an incident or emergency on the bus.
• Help out with other tasks in the school when needed.
