Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.

  • Secure car seats, wheelchairs, and other items to prevent injury.
  • Ensure orderly boarding and alighting by students.
  • Attend workshops related to student transportation as requested.
  • Collect and hand over personal items left on the bus to the school secretary.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the bus driver or Transportation Supervisor.

Job Description

Looking for a full time (30 +/- hours weekly) Bus Aide to assist bus drivers in maintaining safety and good student conduct with a positive experience for riders and driver. Proven ability to interact with special needs students, physically handicapped, autistic and behavior challenged students

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES*
  • Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus
  • Assists young or disabled student in getting on and off the bus
  • Secures car seats, wheelchairs, and other articles that may cause injury
  • Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion
  • Attend workshops dealing with student transportation as requested
  • Collects and turns over to the school secretary those personal items left on the bus by students
  • Performs such other duties that may be reasonably requested from time-to-time by the bus driver, Special Education Team/Coordinator, or Transportation Supervisor
Special Knowledge / Skills:

Will receive First Aid training within three months of employment; The ability to create and maintain positive relations with students, school personnel, parents, and citizens, and to collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to maintain high quality of services.

Education / Certification:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. Diploma; Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and physical; Capable of lifting 60 pounds with no restrictions

Compensation is based on experience
