Responsibilities

  • Has knowledge of and obeys all traffic laws governing the operation of school buses.
  • Have knowledge of bus safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs pre-trip inspection procedures and informs Support Services Director of needed repairs.
  • Files complete trip reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintains the interior and exterior of bus in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Has knowledge of assigned routes in order to recognize potential hazards and in order to drive route in a safe and economical manner.
  • Follow proper procedure for controlling traffic for the crossing, loading and seating of passengers.
  • Has knowledge of emergency procedures and use of emergency equipment.
  • Reports accidents immediately and completes required reports.
  • Implements the assertive discipline program as directed and maintains positive relationship with passengers.
  • Maintains proper driving attitude and is courteous in dealing with parents.
  • Attends training sessions scheduled by Director of Support Services.
  • Is punctual in performing assigned tasks.
  • Presents an acceptable personal appearance.
  • Maintains a standard of personal conduct and self-control that contributes to bus safety.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Director of Support Services.
