Job summary

RSU 63 is seeking a dependable, student-focused Bus Aide on a special education route for both morning and afternoon transportation.

Approximately 20 hours per week in a part-time, school-year position, with potential additional hours as needed by the Transportation Department.

Qualifications

• Patient, dependable and comfortable working with students.
• Able to respond calmly to student needs and behaviors.
• Able to work cooperatively with transportation and school staff.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must complete the Maine DOE CHRC and obtain approval.

• Assist with student behavior, redirection, and assigned seating arrangements.
• Monitor students while the bus is moving and encourage safe, appropriate, and respectful behavior.
• Work cooperatively with the bus driver to maintain a safe, positive, and orderly environment.
• Support students with appropriate activities, including use of the television available on the bus.
• Report safety or behavioral concerns to the bus driver and Transportation Director.
• Maintain student confidentiality at all times.
