The Plasma Burn Table Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plasma burn table operations, including part programming, job scheduling, production execution, and quality control. This role ensures that cutting operations meet company standards for accuracy, efficiency, and safety, while coordinating with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to meet delivery requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming & Setup
- Create, review, and optimize CNC programs for plasma cutting operations based on drawings, CAD/CAM models, and production requirements.
- Nest parts for material optimization and minimal waste.
- Verify machine parameters, tooling, and cutting paths for accuracy.
- Production Oversight
- Schedule and prioritize jobs on the plasma burn table to align with production deadlines.
- Monitor production output, troubleshoot issues, and adjust programs or processes as needed.
- Ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances, quality standards, and customer specifications.
- Coordination & Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact between engineering, production planning, and shop floor operators regarding burn table jobs.
- Communicate job status, delays, and production metrics to supervisors and management.
- Provide training and guidance to operators on machine operation and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in programming, material utilization, and cutting efficiency.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Promote and enforce safety standards in all plasma burn table operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in CNC plasma cutting operations, programming, and/or fabrication environment.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of nesting software, material properties, and cutting techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic troubleshooting skills.
Preferred
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles or process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with multiple cutting processes (plasma, oxyfuel, laser) is a plus.
