Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) seeks a dedicated RN to serve as a clinical and operational liaison for the burn program. You will coordinate care from injury through inpatient and outpatient phases, ensuring timely access and strong multidisciplinary communication.

Key responsibilities include supporting ABA standards, improving the patient experience, and advancing program growth in alignment with hospital mission as a regional referral center. Bilingual skills are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Three years of RN experience in Burn Care, Trauma or ICU.
  • Current Texas RN license required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • ABLS certification within one year of start date.
  • CBRN certification within three years of start date.
  • BSN required; MSN preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient-centered care from initial injury through rehabilitation and follow-up.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary communication and collaboration.
  • Support ABA alignment, regulatory readiness, and program growth.

Summary

Job Summary

Serves as a clinical and operational liaison across the continuum of burn care and the performance improvement support. Coordinates patient-centered care from initial injury through inpatient treatment, outpatient follow-up, rehabilitation, and community reintegration. Ensures timely access to care, facilitates multidisciplinary communication, supports patients and families, and contributes to quality, regulatory readiness, and program growth in alignment with the American Burn Association (ABA) standards. Plays a critical role in supporting the Burn Program development, improving patient experience and outcomes, reducing fragmentation of care, and supporting the hospital’s mission as a regional referral center.

  • Knowledge of clinical and nursing practices.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective teaching, presentation, and marketing skills.
  • Knowledgeable of prevention program development and implementation.
  • Knowledgeable of adult and child education theory.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with community services.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Work Experience

Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Burn Care, Trauma or ICU is required.

License/Registration/Certification

Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.

Current BLS training is required.

Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) is required within one year of being in the position.

Certified Burn Registered Nurse (CBRN) is required within three years of being in the position.

Education and Training

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.

Master degree in Nursing is preferred.
