Job summary

Atlas Tube in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Bundler Operator to join our mill team. You will learn and operate bundling equipment, ensure bundles meet size, gauge, and scheduling requirements, and support production planning with accurate tagging and barcodes.

You will work with SAP, printers, and crane operators to maintain smooth workflow, perform gauge checks with a micrometer, and document quality and operating reports on a regular basis.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow written/verbal instructions and read gauges/equipment.
• Basic computer skills and math ability are required.
• Excellent communication, dependability, and a strong work ethic are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate bundling equipment and strapping machines to produce correct bundle size/configuration.
• Use SAP and printers to produce bar code tags and hand tags.
• Check bundle lengths and perform gauge checks with a micrometer; record results.
• Coordinate with cut-off and crane operators to maintain production flow.
• Cut and pull samples as needed and maintain adequate supplies of banding materials.
• Fill out operating and quality reports as required.
• Ensure bundles are properly tagged with barcode labels.

Reporting to Mill Supervisor the Bundler Operator, will ensure his/her role in production is fulfilled with a commitment to the continual improvement in uptime, product quality, and overall mill performance.RESPONSIBILITIES:How to work from rolling schedules and SAP to ensure that proper size, gauge, length, and bundle configuration are being processedHow to set up and operate bundling equipment/strapping machines to produce bundles of proper size and configuration as scheduled by production planningHow to use SAP and printer to produce bar code tags/ write out hand tagsHow to check bundle lengths as requiredHow to communicate with cut off operator and crane operators to ensure continuous production flowHow to cut and pull samples when neededHow to maintain an adequate supply of banding and other needed suppliesHow to perform gauge checks using a micrometer on each bundle and record findingsHow to non-conform any bundles that are or appear to be out of specificationRegular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role.How to fill out all operating reports and quality reports as requiredHow to properly put bar code tags on bundlesSKILLS/COMPETENCIES:Tube mill manufacturing experience preferredMust be able to follow written/verbal instructions; basic computer skills; able to read measuring devices/equipment, and basic math skillsExhibits effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skillsVisual acuity to read and record numerical dataAttention to detail, dependability, professionalism and a great work ethicQUALIFICATIONS:2-4 Year degree in a related field preferred. Exceptions may be individuals with process knowledge and workforce management background.Proven leadership skills2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facilityPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time to cover shift.Bend, Twist, Stoop, Sit, Kneel, Crawl, push and pull.
