Job summary

Kinder Morgan, Inc. is seeking a Bulk Operator at the Port Sulphur terminal to support safe and efficient movement of petroleum coke and coal.

The role follows SOPs, performs routine inspections, basic maintenance, and supports operations with a focus on safety and reliability. Responsibilities include operating wheel loaders and conveyors, maintaining equipment, and adhering to all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Must pass drug screen, background check, and any required tests.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform terminal operations as directed by Shift Supervisor or Plant Coordinator in compliance with SOPs and regulations.
• Operate equipment including Wheel Loaders, E Crane, Krupp Stacker/Reclaimer, D-10 dozer, Ship Loader, conveyors, and CBU.
• Inspect and service equipment; assist maintenance with minor tasks.
• Maintain safety rules and attend safety training.
• Ensure quality standards are met while performing duties.
• Assist maintenance with routine tasks and daily inspections.
• Other duties as needed.

What We Are Looking For

The Bulk Operator is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient movement of petroleum coke and coal to and from the terminal. Working under the direction of management, this role performs all terminal operations safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Additional responsibilities include performing routine inspections, conducting basic equipment upkeep and servicing, and assisting the maintenance team with minor maintenance activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth terminal operations and overall operational reliability.

What You Will Do

Specific tasks include but are not limited to:

• Perform all functions of terminal operations as directed by the Shift Supervisor or Plant Coordinator consistent with standard operating procedures and federal, state and local regulations.
• Perform all functions in a timely, efficient, and cost effective manner.
• Operation of equipment, which includes but is not limited to Wheel Loaders, E Crane, Krupp Stacker/Reclaimer, D-10 dozer, Ship Loader, Conveyor systems, and CBU (Continuous Barge Unloader) .
• Responsible for observing all company safety rules and regulations while performing all duties, and attending all training courses for operations and safety.
• Responsible for keeping a high standard of quality while fulfilling the duties of the position
• Assist maintenance department as required to perform various minor maintenance duties.
• General upkeep and service of equipment including, but not limited to, greasing, fueling, checking fluid levels, and proper completion of daily inspection report.
• Other duties as needed

• High School Diploma or GED

Required Qualifications

• Must be able to work with a team, take direction from the supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
• Must possess the physical and mental dexterity to manipulate pedals, levers, and buttons to control the speed and direction of the equipment.
• Must be able to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
• Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to respond to call outs.
• Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to work long hours, in excess of 12 hours, when required.
• Must be able to climb ladders and stairs
• Willing and able to work at heights
• Able to negotiate uneven surfaces
• Able to carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to pass company drug screen, background check, and any other applicable tests and clearances.
• Must be able to attain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Requires work in all types of weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, Industrial Hygiene and other industry regulations a plus
• Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, front end loaders, conveyors and large dozers preferred
• Previous experience in an industrial or bulk handling facility preferred
