Job summary

Kinder Morgan, Inc. in Ohio seeks a results-oriented Terminal Manager to oversee bulk terminal operations, P&L, budgeting and safety.

You will lead operations supervisors, maintenance, customer service and staff while coordinating with commercial and finance teams to meet regional and corporate goals. Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of management experience in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to manage operating procedures, regulatory requirements and customer relations.
  • Understand Union contract and operate facility within its parameters.
  • Experience budgeting and financial acumen.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations related to bulk products.
  • Proven track record managing union and non-union workforce.
  • Project management and budgeting experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast monthly revenue with finance and commercial teammates to meet monthly expectations.
  • Develop short-, medium- and long-term operational goals to meet regional and corporate goals.
  • Develop a safety culture that aims for zero injuries and improves overall team safety.
  • Develop KPIs to track terminal performance and keep the team informed.
  • Manage employees including hiring, discipline, union negotiations, performance reviews and safety programs.
  • Participate in negotiations with customers and service providers to meet terminal goals.
  • Support growth and development of business with commercial group.
  • Foster customer relations using quantitative, quality-based approaches.
  • Oversee service, maintenance and capital assets.
  • Stay updated on changes in working conditions or new technology to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Initiate and support improvement plans for staff to achieve department goals.
  • Interpret and apply company safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead efforts to improve handling methods, equipment performance and product quality.
  • Propose changes in working conditions to increase terminal efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

Full responsibility and oversight of bulk terminal operations in OH. Position is responsible for all aspects of the terminal including operations, maintenance, customer relationships, P&L, and budgeting. This position will manage operations supervisors, maintenance staff, customer service and operational staff. The position will also work closely with the commercial and finance groups in meeting the objectives of the terminal. The Terminal Manager is a business leader, risk manager and an employee motivator.

What You Will Do
  • Forecast monthly revenue and track with finance and commercial teammates to meet monthly expectations.
  • Develop short-, medium- and long-term operational goals to meet regional and corporate goals.
  • Develop a safety culture that meets zero injuries and on focuses the team’s overall safety.
  • Develop KPI’s that track the terminals performance using the information to keep all team members abreast of the terminal’s performance.
  • Management of employees including hiring, discipline process, union negotiations, employee performance reviews, the safety of employees and the management of safety programs.
  • Participation and assistance in negotiations with customers and service providers to meet the goals of the Terminal.
  • Growth and development of business internally and externally with the support of the commercial group.
  • Facilitation and development of customer relations and service using a quantitative, quality-based approach.
  • Overseeing of service, maintenance and capital assets.
  • Stays abreast of changes in working conditions or new technology that could increase the safety and efficiency of the operations.
  • Initiates and supports improvement plans for employees to succeed in their efforts to achieve the goals of the department.
  • Interprets and sets company policies on worker safety, safety regulations, company policies/procedures and work rules.
  • Sets direction to improve handling methods, equipment performance, and quality of product handling.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of terminal.
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Need
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
Required Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of management experience in an industrial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operating procedures, regulatory requirements and customer relations.
  • Understand the Union contract and be able to operate the facility within its parameters and enforce the company’s position.
  • Enforce SQE to meet corporate requirements
  • Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations related to bulk products.
  • Proven track record of managing a union and non-union workforce in an industrial setting.
  • Project management and financial acumen is required. Prior budgeting experience required.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills required (Microsoft Office products).
  • Intermediate to advanced math skills are required.
  • The ability to read, interpret and train others on documents such as safety rules operating/maintenance instructions and policies and procedures.
  • Develop alternative solutions, resolve problems, manage difficult situation, responds to internal/external requests for information to meet commitments.
  • The ability to communicate in a clear and precise manner in written and oral communications with all levels and in various settings.
  • The ability to lead, mentor and empower subordinates to safely and effectively manage the operation.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects, deliverables and the ability to establish priorities.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Successful completion of a drug screen and background check which includes a credit check upon offer.
  • 25% travel is required.

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
