Job summary

The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor is seeking a Building Trades Technician I to maintain and repair building envelope and interior systems across critical research facilities on a 24/7 basis.

You’ll perform basic carpentry, masonry, painting, and low-voltage work under supervision, use CMMS to document activities, support planning with contractors, and rotate on-call duties including nights and weekends, with occasional travel to other sites.

Qualifications

• Basic troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of building envelope and interior systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with CMMS and documenting maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic troubleshooting, installation, and repair of carpentry, masonry, painting, siding, flooring, windows, doors, drywall, furniture, roofing, and minor electrical work under supervision.
• Support project planning and coordination with contractors and engineers.
• Use CMMS to document maintenance activities, generate reports, checklists, and related documentation.
• Participate in rotating on-call schedule and respond to on-campus emergencies within one hour on a 24/7 basis. Travel occasionally for training or to support others sites.
