Job summary

GHL Consultants Ltd, a part of J.S. Held, seeks a skilled Technician/Technologist to contribute to Building Code and fire engineering projects in Canada. You will review drawings, prepare code compliance documents, and support site field reviews.

You will work with a team of engineers and technologists, using Bluebeam, AutoCAD LT, SketchUp, and other tools. A strong reading of building drawings and communication skills are essential; remote-friendly and benefits include profit sharing.

Qualifications

• Graduated Technician or Technologist in Architectural and Building Technologies.
• Experience reading and interpreting building design drawings.
• Knowledge of Parts 3 and/or 9 of the Building Code is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Team oriented; able to work independently.
• Valid BC Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Building Code review of drawings, shop drawings, etc.
• Preparation of Code compliance drawings, reports, letters, alternative solutions, etc.
• Conduct site reviews and prepare field review reports.
• Attend meetings, presentations, occupancy demonstrations, etc.

Responsibilities

• Building Code review of drawings, shop drawings, etc.

Skills And Qualifications

• A graduated Technician or Technologist with educational focus in Architectural and Building Technologies (experience in Civil, Mechanical and Structural disciplines is an asset).
• Experience using Bluebeam, Adobe, AutoCAD LT, Sketchup, Excel, Word, etc.
• Knowledge of Parts 3 and/or 9 of the Building Code.
• Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing).
• Ability to read and interpret building design drawings (drafting skills are an asset).
• Team oriented and able to work individually.
• Valid BC Driver’s License.

GHL offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Commensurate with experience, salary range of $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per annum plus benefits and eligibility to participate in profit sharing.
