Job summary

GHL Consultants Ltd, a part of J.S. Held, seeks a skilled Technician/Technologist to contribute to Building Code and fire engineering projects in Canada. You will review drawings, prepare code compliance documents, and support site field reviews.

You will work with a team of engineers and technologists, using Bluebeam, AutoCAD LT, SketchUp, and other tools. A strong reading of building drawings and communication skills are essential; remote-friendly and benefits include profit sharing.

Qualifications

Graduated Technician or Technologist in Architectural and Building Technologies.
Experience reading and interpreting building design drawings.
Knowledge of Parts 3 and/or 9 of the Building Code is a plus.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Team oriented; able to work independently.
Valid BC Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

Building Code review of drawings, shop drawings, etc.
Preparation of Code compliance drawings, reports, letters, alternative solutions, etc.
Conduct site reviews and prepare field review reports.
Attend meetings, presentations, occupancy demonstrations, etc.
