Job summary

University of Toledo seeks a Building Operator to maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, steam systems and general housekeeping across campus facilities. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance and safe, clean, orderly buildings and grounds.

The position reports to facilities management and operates on a 7:00 am–3:30 pm schedule with weekend work as required. Candidates should have 3–5 years in related trades and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Requires 3-5 years in HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing and/or general maintenance.
• Maintains a valid driver’s license and must be insurable under the University of Toledo’s driving policies
• Knowledge of general maintenance and general repair practices
• Ability to use math, read and write common vocabulary, read blueprints, understand manuals, and verbal instructions (technical in nature)
• Ability to walk, climb, bend, twist, kneel and lift up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performs HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, steam system maintenance and general housekeeping of the assigned buildings.
• Performs preventative maintenance on all building systems and components.
• The Building Operator will ensure the maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and organization of the building, its property, vehicles, and its contents.
