Job summary

UC San Diego's Building Operations division seeks a skilled technician to perform emergency first response, routine maintenance and repair of building systems across campus facilities in San Diego. You will work with high voltage equipment, HTW/CHW systems and related utilities, ensuring safe operation and minimal downtime.

The role requires interpreting blueprints and specifications, conducting scheduled tests, and collaborating with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of operating, maintaining and repairing building systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, specifications and schematics.
• Experience troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Proficiency with CMMS software and reporting.
• Strong communication and teamwork for shift operations.

Responsibilities

• Test, maintain, repair and calibrate building system components.
• Diagnose problems and perform full repairs on campus facilities.
• Coordinate system shutdowns/de-pressurizations with customers.
• Read blueprints and install valves, regulators and safety devices.
• Document corrective actions and maintain logs and reports.
