Our client, Energy Solutions is seeking a Building Systems Engineer / Project Engineer to join their team. As a Building Systems Engineer / Project Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Team supporting design-build delivery and the coordination of building mechanical systems—especially HVAC—for commercial and educational projects. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical systems expertise, a collaborative mindset across disciplines, and the drive to deliver efficient, reliable building performance from concept through construction and startup.
Location: Mays Landing, New Jersey
Pay Range: $105000 - $150000
What's the Job?
- Lead or support the design and development of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, ventilation/indoor air quality, hydronics, and related mechanical coordination.
- Perform or oversee HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork/piping layout, energy modeling, and system integration using industry-standard tools such as Trace, HAP, Carrier, Revit, and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project efforts across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and structural disciplines to ensure cohesive building systems design and delivery.
- Prepare and review design documents, specifications, drawings, calculations, and project deliverables for HVAC, hydronic, ventilation, and related mechanical systems.
- Support design-build project execution from concept through construction administration, including schedule coordination, budget awareness, technical issue resolution, and commissioning support.
What's Needed?
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, or a related field (PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe).
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in building systems engineering or project engineering roles.
- Proven experience with HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, and/or industrial/energy generation facilities.
- Strong technical foundation in HVAC principles, hydronic systems, ventilation, energy recovery, and building systems integration.
- Proficiency with HVAC load calculation software, AutoCAD, and Revit (BIM experience preferred), plus excellent written and verbal communication skills.
