Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to support the designand documentation of HVAC systems for a diverse range of educational, civic,cultural, healthcare, commercial, and institutional building projects.
This is a growth-oriented position for a mechanical designprofessional interested in developing their technical skills and progressingtoward professional licensure. The role involves close collaboration witharchitects, interior designers, structural engineers, electrical engineers,plumbing engineers, and project managers throughout the design and constructionprocess.
Key Responsibilities
- Assistwith the design of HVAC and mechanical systems for building projects
- Preparemechanical construction documents, drawings, and specifications
- PerformHVAC design load calculations and energy modeling
- Assistwith equipment selection and system sizing
- Conductsite visits to document and verify existing field conditions
- Coordinatemechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing,and other disciplines
- Reviewdrawings and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and coordination
- Supportproject teams throughout the design and construction phases
- Participatein project meetings and interdisciplinary coordination efforts
- Assistwith field observations and construction administration as needed
Qualifications
Required
- 2+years of relevant experience in HVAC or mechanical building design
- Experiencewith HVAC system design and preparation of construction documents
- Knowledgeof fundamental mechanical engineering and HVAC design principles
- Experiencewith load calculation and/or energy modeling software
- Proficiencywith Microsoft Word and Excel
- Interestin pursuing professional engineering licensure
- Strongcommunication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Abilityto work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project team
Preferred
- FEexam passed and/or EIT designation
- Experiencewith AutoCAD and Revit MEP
- Familiaritywith Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, IES VE, or comparable load calculation andenergy modeling software
- Experiencewith COMcheck and energy code compliance documentation
- Previousfield experience verifying existing building conditions
- Familiaritywith applicable mechanical, energy, and building codes
- Experienceworking on educational, civic, institutional, cultural, healthcare, orcommercial projects
