Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Building Engineer in Virginia to monitor, maintain, and repair building systems across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, and more, ensuring operations meet client standards. You will support preventive maintenance and respond to emergencies.

Knowledge of codes and safety, energy efficiency programs, and the ability to coordinate with teams will be essential. Overtime and on-call shifts may apply, with weekend work possible.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining building systems, equipment, and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, and life-safety systems.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and company safety directives.
• Maintain energy management practices to optimize system efficiency.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs to meet equipment life expectations and perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow policies for safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean, safe workplace.
• Review building system inspections (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure operations meet design specs.
• Apply standard principles to complex assignments and provide practical solutions.
• Share knowledge with colleagues and foster learning across disciplines.
• Lead by example and help build consensus within CBRE teams.
• Impact a range of client, operational, and service activities within the team and related groups.
• Work within broad guidelines and policies; communicate difficult information clearly.
