Job summary

Exelon in Bethesda, MD is hiring a Building Engineer B to operate, maintain, and repair heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems. You will read prints and schematics, inspect equipment, and ensure safe, compliant operation across all facility systems.

The role requires a license as a stationary engineer (DC Class 3 or MD Grade 1) and a CFC certificate, with duties spanning system diagnostics, repairs, and coordination with technicians for improvements.

Qualifications

• Building Engineer B or equivalent outside experience.
• Ability to read prints, schematics, and specifications.
• Working knowledge of safety regulations and first-aid procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and tests HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems; fabricates equipment; keeps equipment operational.
• Operates, repairs, installs, maintains and services HVAC systems; replaces filters and lubricates components.
• Maintains boilers, air compressors, steam system, water systems, piping, valves and related controls; notes defects and coordinates repairs.
• Inspects plumbing fixtures, water and drainage systems; test fire sprinklers and alarms; manage water treatment.
• Dismantles, cleans, repairs, and reassembles equipment; installs pipes and ductwork; calibrates controls.
