Job summary

Queen City Academy Charter School seeks a Building Substitute to provide a steady presence when teachers are absent, moving between classrooms to keep learning on track. You will follow existing lesson plans, administer assessments, and maintain high expectations for student learning.

Daily responsibilities include using technology to support inquiry, collaborating with staff, and supporting school culture and safety.

Qualities

• Quickly pick up and faithfully implement the classroom teacher's existing lesson plans, following rubrics and administering assessments as directed
• Communicate and maintain high academic and personal expectations for all students, even as a new or occasional face in the room
• Adapt easily across grade levels and content areas, bringing flexibility and confidence to any classroom you're placed in
• Make content accessible and meaningful to students, even when stepping into material you didn't design
• Leverage technology to foster greater inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interactions with and among students, colleagues, and families
• Maintain a safe, orderly, non-threatening learning environment for all students from the moment you walk in
• Build quick rapport with students and communicate clearly with staff to ensure a smooth handoff before and after each assignment
• Participate in ongoing professional development, including the annual one-week staff training, to strengthen your classroom management and instructional versatility
• Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that promotes student achievement and meets the needs of QCA's families
• Support the administrative team with special projects
