Job summary

Kiewit is seeking mid‑career Building Structural Engineers to independently execute analysis, design, and detailing for mid‑ to large‑scale vertical construction. You will apply advanced engineering judgment, develop refined structural models, and run simulations to validate performance under diverse loading in a collaborative, EPC delivery environment.

The role emphasizes design quality, constructability, and code compliance, with mentorship of junior engineers and opportunities for travel

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Active PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year (company will support).
  • 6+ years of structural engineering design/analysis experience.
  • Experience with multiple building systems (steel, concrete, masonry, wood).
  • Knowledge of national building/construction codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS).
  • Experience with Design/Build/EPC or similar delivery projects is a plus.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis tools: SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, SAFE, RISA.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced structural design and analysis with minimal supervision.
  • Apply building codes and structural behavior knowledge to analyses.
  • Establish design/repair scope for various structures.
  • Perform advanced calculations, modeling, and simulations to meet standards.
  • Evaluate drawings and QC reviews for sound, constructable designs.
  • Produce designs, plans, specs, and construction documents.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines for cohesive designs.
  • Support construction phase with submittals, RFIs, NCRs.
  • Conduct site visits and propose solutions with a senior engineer.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster continuous learning.
  • Willing to travel as needed.
